On July 4th 2017, Miosotis kissed her children for the last time and then went to work.
Miosotis was a single New York City Police Officer who lost her life in an execution style murder as she sat in the NYPD temporary headquarters vehicle on July 5th. At approximately 12:30am, a male approached and fired one shot through the window, striking Detective Familia in the head, killing her instantly. Her eldest daughter Genesis was just 20 years old at the time. Genesis also lost her father at a very young age.
Genesis took on the responsibility of raising her brother and sister. Thankfully, Frank Siller and the Tunnel to Towers foundation bought them a co-op apartment relieving much stress for this family.
Genesis finished college and now has a full time job. Her siblings are now in juniors in High School and are doing great. Both play school sports and belong to school clubs. Delilah plays on the schools soccer team and Peter plays on their school basketball team.

We at Survivors of the Shield wish to thank everyone who made Christmas 2020 a special and Happy Holiday for the Children of Miosotis Familia.
Below are photos of the gifts sent to us by caring and special people.
With the generous cash donations, we were able to buy three Apple I phones for Genesis and the kids.
We wrapped all the the gifts sent to us with love. A small contingent of SOS members delivered the gifts along with lunch and desert . The members included both widows and children of NYPD officers killed in the line of duty. We know we can not fulfill all their wishes, we just want to bring them a little joy during the holidays. Below find some photos from Christmas 2020. Lunch was generousily donated by Utopia Bagels 1909 Utopia Pkwy Whitestone NY
